Quick Decision

In a Quick Decision activity, learners are given a situation and must immediately choose an action.  They get feedback by seeing the consequences of their decision play out, and then receive a brief analysis of the decision. Learners can use this analysis to make a different choice, and once again, the consequences will play out for them.

Goals: Participants learn to make better decisions when time is of the essence. To develop this skill, they complete brief scenarios.

Description: Learners watch a complex situation, then decide what to do next, generally under time pressure.

Guidance and Feedback: In this model, there is no guidance. Learners must make decisions immediately. Feedback is provided primarily via the outcome of the learner's decision, though a tutor-based summary (in either video or text) is sometimes employed.

Uses: Best for tasks that have an element of time pressure and do not involve multiple actions or steps for learning to take place.
