Watch, Rate, & CompareTM
Training Model

2002

Description: This elegant, engaging new method for teaching social skills met with immediate acceptance. The method uses modeling techniques to help learners see both good and bad ways to perform a task. Learners in this model begin by watching a video of a person performing a task, then rate the performance along several dimensions. Once their ratings are in, learners compare their thoughts with those of peers and experts. Finally, learners can see the situation performed perfectly well, in order to model their own behavior. Combining an educational use of video with a serious-yet-fun rating system and an opportunity for learners to relate to their peers, this method was first designed to teach remedial driving skills and later used successfully for coaching, sales, and customer service.
